Scott Patrick Brand
Attorney at Law
Biography
Scott Patrick Brand is a partner at Nilson Brand Law, where he represents clients in criminal defense and family law matters across North Dakota and Minnesota. A native of West Fargo, North Dakota, Scott brings the values of hard work, integrity, and determination instilled during his upbringing on a farm to every case he handles.
As a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Scott developed a unique perspective on discipline, strategy, and clear communication—skills that now inform his approach in the courtroom and throughout the legal process. He has earned a reputation as a straightforward, no-nonsense advocate, known for his candid and honest conversations with clients, opposing counsel, and the court. Whether navigating complex criminal charges or sensitive family law matters, Scott is relentless in ensuring his clients’ voices are heard and their rights are protected.
Scott’s criminal law practice is extensive, encompassing a wide range of matters including DUI/DWI, drug offenses, domestic violence, assault, theft, white-collar crime, sex crimes, appeals, and homicide. He has appeared in municipal, state, and federal courts, handling cases with skill and precision, and standing ready to protect clients facing serious criminal charges.
In family law, Scott draws on his experience as a husband and father to guide clients through challenging divorce, custody, and child support cases. He prioritizes the best interests of children while helping clients understand the legal process, navigate difficult decisions, and move forward with confidence.
When he is not advocating for clients, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, and their spirited dog, Trooper. A passionate baseball fan, he cheers for the Minnesota Twins, hoping to bring his family to witness another World Series to add to the ’87 and ’91 banners.
